Introducing The Use OF English with Gabriel Faniyan and Social Etiquette with Lizzy Winniran

We are elated to inform you that the BookRepublic team has kick started two weekly columns on our larger platform –

By popular demand, we have invited Gabriel Faniyan, an English Language scholar to expose Nigerians who are having trouble with the mastery of the language, to the rudiments of the borrowed tongue.

Lizzy Winniran, a Public speaker and role model, will be taking us on a long ride to the land of manners. Our society, quite saddening, lacks etiquette. From the ordinary Nigerian to the elite, we lack the basic ways of reacting to a natural environment.

This is what Lizzy has to say:

The surroundings which is the immediate environment of an individual, plays a consequential role in molding his or her person. Surroundings in this sense hints on the condition of that space right beside you. Yes, that little space beside you or even that large space you are occupying. The way you take care of that place you inhabit that belongs to you alone, would determine the way you would cater for that public environment. You might have a clue about what I am driving at and you might just shove it off. Funny enough, you might just say to yourself ‘as long as I have got no creases on my cloth, I have had my bath, brushed my teeth, styled my hair, used my cologne. Nothing else matters!’

Definitely you have missed two power-packed Sundays on Kindly join us this Sunday, as Gabriel Faniyan and the Etiquette lady, Lizzy Winniran,  fires on. it is books and things that matter!
