FANIYAN, GABRIEL OLUWASEGUN was born on January 29, 1986 in Lagos. He attended Peju Kiddies College, Oke Aro, Agbado, Ogun State. He had his secondary school education at Iganmode Grammar School, Ota and Total Child Secondary School, Sapele, Delta State. He obtained his first degree from the Department of English University of Ibadan and he is currently running his maters programme in the same university.

He was President, NYSC-Millennium Development Goals Awareness Creation, Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State. October 2012 to February 2013.

Gabriel Faniyan was Public Relations Officer, NYSC-Millennium Development Goals Awareness Creation, Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State. May 2012 to October 2012.

He was Director of Literary Development/Editor in Chief; National Association of Student of English and Literary Studies 2010 – 2011.

He was President, Arts Literary and Debating Society 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 Sessions.

He was Deputy-Editor-in-Chief: Renaissance: A publication of the Redeemed Christian Fellowship, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.


He was Participant, International Conference of Students of English and Literary Studies (ICOSELS) at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria from February 14 – February 19, 2010.

Gabriel Faniyan was also Participant, International Conference of Students of English and Literary Studies, which held at Ahmadu-Bello University, A.B.U Zaria, Kaduna State from January 30, 2011 – February 5, 2011.


As Editor in Chief and Director for Literary Development, he was also among the planning committee.


Some Distinction and Awards


He featured on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) am express on Thursday 26th of August 2010 to talk about issues on  global warming and his latest Science fiction Sunrise at Night 7:00am.

He was Student Role Model; was interviewed on UI Radio, Diamond FM 101.1 as student role model on the 5th of October 2010.

Gabriel Faniyan was Orator of the year; Association of Faculty of Arts Students Association (AFAS), University of Ibadan, 2011.

He also was the Student Author of the Year; National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies, University of Ibadan.  2011.

He was Convener; THE DAYS AFTER TOMORROW. A global warming awareness initiative and an NYSC community development service project that gathered more than two hundred students from sixteen secondary schools in Benin City. January 25, 2013.


He received Certificate of Commendation; National Youth Service Corps Edo State. February 14, 2013.

He Featured on Independent Television Benin (This morning on ITV) on Monday 22nd of July, 2013 to talk about science fiction in Nigeria, the reading and writing culture and issues on global warming as represented in The Days After Tomorrow 8:10am.

He is a published author of three books Empty Barrels; August 2007, Sunrise at Night; August 2010 and The Days After Tomorrow January 2013. His hobbies include Writing, Debating, Traveling and Playing Chess.
